Laughlin is a census-designated place in Nevada United States. It is not an incorporated place like a municipality. This place is governed by the Clark County Board of Commissioners. It is headed by a Town Manager (not of a Mayor). When talking about casinos and resorts, this place is the third most visited place in the state. It comes after Las Vegas and Reno. It is also one of the top five destinations of American Recreational Vehicle enthusiasts.

Laughlin got its name from the founder of Riverside Resort and Casino, “Don Laughlin”. The name “Laughlin” was chosen by the post office after a tight choice of the United States Postal Service. The place is known as a more family– friendly venue to all the people. It also gives emphasis on the outdoor and family activities which are greatly opposing to the glitz and entertainment found in Las Vegas and Reno.

Laughlin has lots of great family – friendly hotels. The hotels referred here are the hotels that can fit your budget. They are called budget- hotels because they are not expensive, enough for a grand vacation or holiday. Though these hotels have lower rates, they offer good quality services that truly satisfy the needs of their guests. They provide a nice place for vacation. These hotels feature activities that let their guests see the whole beauty of Laughlin.

Of course, we know the quality of a good hotel. It must be able to have complete room amenities, hotel features and activities to offer their guests. There are also budget hotels that offer big concerts for their guests. The guests can dance all night with the live concert or can choose to go to the nearest disco bars to enjoy the night.

Laughlin beaches mostly attract people because of the nice white sand. They are provided with facilities like cabanas and for more energetic individuals, there are jet skis for rent. It is nice to have sun bathing in their beaches. You can have glorious night swimming that you will surely enjoy.

When visiting the Laughlin, one big event you must not miss is watching and riding the hot air balloons. This is one ride you must not miss. You can experience being up there in the skies and looking all over Laughlin.

Crewed Yacht Charter Vacations

November 16th, 2008 RumbleRomagnoli Posted in Travel | No Comments »

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines, sail away from safe harbor. Explore, Dream, Discover”.

Mark Twain

Welcome to the most spectacular playground in the world. Did you know that over 70% of the Earth’s surface is Ocean? A crewed yacht charter is a vacation with a difference. It can be summarized with just one word – Luxury. Experience elegance, style and an exceptional taste of freedom cruising any of the exotic locations onboard a chartered luxury yacht.

There are other alternatives such as cruise ships and resorts. Although each of these are wonderful vacations, they cannot compare to the flexibility of your own personal luxury yacht charter. Luxury crewed yacht charters will cost you no more than an exclusive hotel or even a cruise. In contrast to a cruise or hotel, you will have ultimate freedom and total control over your vacation. Where would you like to go? You can set your own itinerary with the guidance of your captain and luxury yacht crew. Maybe you would like to stop by and visit a pretty little island along your path, if so, just let your yacht crew know and they will adjust course to suit you.

You and your guests can relax and enjoy the vistas unfolding, whilst an attentive and professional charter yacht crew dotes on you. There’s no need for cooking or cleaning, as your personal chef prepares exquisite cuisine cooked to perfection. Your yacht crew will in most cases be multilingual, and can therefore be of assistance at any of the ports of call.

Select a destination to start your adventure. With such a vast area of water covering this globe, the choices are endless. Fancy a Mediterranean yacht charter, a Caribbean crewed yacht charter or visit the likes of Croatia, Spain, Greece or Turkey. South of France yacht charter, yacht charter Cote D’Azur and Caribbean yacht charter are popular vacation destinations. The exotic Caribbean includes the Bahamas Islands, British Virgin Islands, Leeward Islands and Windward Islands. Visualize a pacific flavor to your vacation; visit the Marquesas Islands, Tuamoto Islands and Society Islands in the South Pacific. These are only a few of the possible luxury yacht charter destinations.

For those romanticizing of a sailing vacation, catamarans could be an option with vessels accommodating for up to 10 guests. Possibly you might enjoy luxury sailing yacht charters which can also accommodate up to 10 guests. A luxury motor yacht charter could be the answer if you don’t wish to be at the whim of the wind.

Luxury Yachts, luxury mega yachts, and luxury sailing yachts can be between 30-85 meters and can very greatly in style. A larger vessel has the size and stability to offer lavishly appointed saloons that are tastefully decorated. Private cabins are large and have individual ensuites. Spacious decks are designed for either sunbathing or various outdoor activities. Most luxury yachts are equipped to enhance your enjoyment of the water that surrounds you. Take pleasure in skipping across the waves on a Jetski or skimming along in a kayak. Delve below the surface to explore with dive sets and snorkeling equipment provided. A speed boat tender is available for you and your guests to enjoy water skiing or just to go ashore to the beach for a picnic or a night out in port.

Possibilities for your private crewed yacht charter vacation are endless. Pick a destination and the style of luxury vessel, and then just enjoy the experience.

Blue Water Yachting is an exclusive yacht charter company specialising in luxury yacht charter in the South of France. Whether you are interested in a Mediterranean yacht charter, Caribbean crewed yacht charter or a South of France luxury yacht charter, we always provide a first class service.

The Best Golf Courses in South Africa

November 16th, 2008 RobertSantry Posted in Travel | No Comments »

Whether you’re a seasoned golfing enthusiast who always keeps their clubs on them, or are the type who plays the odd game now and then to relax, luxury holidays in South Africa are impressively well catered for. South Africa’s varied terrain makes it a unique destination for golfers, with a mix of breathtaking coastal courses, a fine elevated selection and a good number included in international events. Then of course there’s the weather – the climate is absolutely ideal, with the bright sunshine perfect for those who like to spend their times on the fairways and outside the clubhouse.

Here are some of the best golf courses in South Africa. If you only play a couple of times while out there, make sure one of these is on your list:

Leopard Creek

Leopard Creek is pretty much the undisputed jewel in South Africa’s golfing crown, and is a frequent inclusion in ‘World’s Best Courses’ lists. If you only play a handful of courses on your golf holiday in South Africa, make sure this is one of them. As well as being an entertaining and challenging course in its own right, what is really unique about Leopard Creek is its location: right on the border of the world-renowned Kruger National Park. The course (a Gary Player design) is sculpted to make the most of its location, and you shouldn’t be surprised to see a number of moving hazards around the water features, as warthogs, giraffes and crocodiles have been known to wander the course, and the trees are full of exotic birds too. With this kind of scenery, it’s an unforgettable round of golf, but don’t let it spoil your concentration for the final hole: a dramatic island green that has been known to make and break scorecards!

Gary Player Country Club

Unsurprisingly, this South Africa golf course was also designed by the legendary Gary Player, and it’s very much a challenge fitting for the man himself. This is one of the longest and toughest courses in the country, and not one for South Africa holiday makers who barely play. If you have the skills though, this course is another which frequently sneaks into ‘worlds best’ lists, albeit at a lower entry point than Leopard Creek. You need to have an accurate approach and watch out for the copious bunkers and water hazards to get a decent score here.

Wild Coast Country Club

Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the incredible Indian Ocean views – this is actually quite a tricky course, especially if you find yourself straying into the rough, or the coastal winds whip up! It’s quite a varied course, featuring several unexpected changes in elevation, which offset the relatively wide fairways. Look out for the thirteenth hole, which is a particularly taxing one, craftily designed to be up there with some of the best in the world. If you’re heading for a golf holiday in South Africa, this is a must.

Fancourt Hotel, Country Club and Golf Estate

Yet another Gary Player design that’s world renowned for a great round of golf, the Fancourt Hotels’ golf course is located on the charming southern Cape. The views are stunning, as is the golf – though it took a lot of effort to make. Over 700,000 metres of earth were moved to make this links style course on a surface that was originally flat! It was well worth the effort though, and if Links style play is your preference then this is certainly worth a visit. The hotel itself is very nice as well, and a good choice if you want to combine a few rounds of golf with your luxury holiday in South Africa.

Arabella Country Club

Not even 10 years old yet, the Arabella Golf Club has come a very long way in a short time, and is now one of the most celebrated golf courses in South Africa. Designed by the celebrated South African golf architect Peter Matkovich, the course is a wonderfully memorable mix of rolling fairways, cheeky bunkers and well placed water traps. It’s quite a sight too, as the course borders South Africa’s largest natural lagoon!

There are plenty of golf courses in South Africa, and although most struggle to match up to the high standards laid out by these ones, the perfect conditions mean you’re pretty much guaranteed an enjoyable round wherever you go. So if you’re planning on a luxury holiday in South Africa, don’t rule out some quality time on the fairways!

Staying Healthy on Your Trekking Holiday

November 16th, 2008 JudeLimburn Posted in Travel | No Comments »

It may sound obvious, but a trekking holiday in distant lands is not made any easier by a lack of personal fitness. Not only will it make the days physically exhausting (Kilimanjaro involves climbing 1,219m/4,000ft, and the Inca Trail’s final days include an ascent of 1,097m/3,600ft) but exhaustion is a risk factor towards altitude sickness. Reduced oxygen levels the higher you go also may make those with fitness problems struggle – at the summit of Kilimanjaro there’s half of the oxygen available at sea level, so make sure you’re in peak shape to enjoy your triumphant moment without feeling ill.

You can help by training for around three months before you set off. You should be able to comfortably walk up and down 1000m/3,281ft with no difficulties to be truly ready for your big challenge (unless you’re going for an easier introductory trekking holiday, in which case you may be more relaxed in your training).

Look after each other

Assuming you’re not going alone (in which case a whole set of safety precautions come into play), be sure that you’re all looking out for each other. One of the main ways of staying safe is to recognise the signs of illness or fatigue early on.

Fluids

It’s common advice, but essential – stay hydrated! At lower levels, the heat and sweating will mean you lose a lot of liquid, while in the colder altitudes exercise will also result in dehydration. Drinking water, soups and beverages frequently will keep energy levels high and help maintain healthiness on your trekking holiday.

Sun Protection

Even when you’re at higher altitudes, it is important to be protected from the sun’s rays. The sun can be intense, and the thin air makes sun cream, a hat, covered skin and lip protection all important to staying hydrated and healthy.

Traveller’s Tummy

Stomach upsets and diarrhoea can be a problem in developing countries, which many adventure holidays tend to visit. It can sometimes be serious; with dehydration and salt loss resulting in a lack of energy and complications – the last thing you need when trying to complete your trek! The best approach to counter this is to drink only properly boiled, filtered or sterilised water, ensure you frequently wash your hands with soap, avoid ice cubes and ice cream, peel all fruit and avoid hand-to-mouth touching.

Altitude Illness

At altitudes above 2000 metres (common on more advanced trekking holidays), the body has to acclimatise to reduced levels of oxygen. The most important factor in reducing the severity of the condition is slow and steady acclimatisation – a gentle progression will prevent your body from getting any sudden shocks. There are three major kinds of Altitude Illness:

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

AMS is rarely deadly and quite easily treated. Its symptoms include a headache, and one or more of fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and poor or disturbed sleep. The best way of avoiding altitude sickness is to make a slow and steady height gain over a period of days, and by resting regularly to acclimatise. Acclimatisation is also aided by eating and drinking properly. You can lose a lot of fluid at high altitudes, so keep an eye on your urine, which should be regular and pale – if it’s infrequent or too dark then you are not drinking enough and should consume more!

The best cure for those who get mild to moderate AMS is to rest at the same or a lower level which should allow the body to acclimatise, and the symptoms to dissipate before you continue. It’s worth noting that hypothermia, dehydration and low blood sugar share many of the same symptoms, so it’s a good idea to work with the treatments of these too. Keep the sufferer warm, hydrated and well fed until their condition improves to be on the safe side. You will then be able to proceed on your adventure holiday when the symptoms disappear – this will happen at some point between a few hours and a few days.

There are more dangerous conditions which require an immediate retreat to lower heights to save lives. These are pretty rare, but if there is any doubt as to the severity of an individuals condition then the individual suffering should descend immediately.

High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE)

HACE can kill very quickly if not treated, so it important to retreat to a lower altitude if the following symptoms appear: a severe headache, vomiting, blurred vision and prolonged lethargy. If the patient remains at a high altitude, this will progress to unsteadiness, drowsiness, confusion and eventually a coma. A good test is to ask the subject to walk heel-to-toe in a straight line or do a simple maths test, as someone with HACE will find this extremely difficult.

High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE)

The main symptom to look out for is severe breathlessness. Although you expect a certain shortage of breath when trekking, if the subject is breathless when compared to those around them (and even at rest) this is a sign they may have HAPE. Other symptoms can often be similar to a chest infection, but at altitude they should be taken very seriously. These include a cough (which may produce white or pink frothy sputum), an elevated body temperature and lips turning blue.

To reiterate, if either of these symptoms appear, you need to head to a significantly lower altitude immediately even if it is the middle of the night! This should be followed by a follow up visit to a hospital to ensure a full return to health.

Don’t let this put you off the trekking holiday of a lifetime! Heading out to the Everest Base Camp or towards Machu Pichu are rightly considered amongst the most memorable experiences a traveller can have. And if you follow the advice of this guide, your trekking holiday should have all of the pleasure with none of the pain.

They are perfect for the whole family or for the couple seeking a romantic but affordable outing.

Disneyland on a Budget

November 15th, 2008 VeronicaRapp Posted in Travel | No Comments »

Disneyland is a magical place that most children dream of going to visit. Your little one may dream of seeing the castle or the Pirates of the Caribbean or Mickey and all his friends, but I bet the dream is in their heart from a very young age. If you are dreaming of taking your family to Disneyland but wondering how to stretch your budget, I’d like to offer some tips that are sure to make your pocketbook happy, and help you take a trip that will create memories that will last a lifetime.

The first tip I have is, never buy your ticket once you get to the park. Do some research in advance and find out about available discounts. Check through any travel memberships that you have or look on the internet for discounted tickets. You can find deals for buying one or two tickets and getting one or two for free. Even Disneyland offers a savings for buying you ticket in advance.

When it comes to eating, your most pocketbook friendly option is to eat outside the park. There are many family friendly restaurants within walking distance from the park gates. Another good trick is to stay at a hotel that offers breakfast with your room rate. If you eat a good breakfast, you may only need a snack at lunch time. You can take granola bars in your bag for everyone. If you hotel has a refrigerator, you can stock up and go back to the hotel for a midday break and have your lunch. Always check ahead of time to find the closest grocery store to you hotel so you can go get some necessities once you arrive.

For savings on your hotel make sure you compare prices. Call the hotel direct, check with your travel agent, and look at the rates online. In regard to the online rates, you want to check at the hotels website plus a few of you discounted travel websites. You can find these just by typing cheap hotels in the search field. Of course I’m wary of the sites that make you pay upfront. They usually have strict penalties for canceling. Because of the way hotel rates are structured, the rates you find could vary significantly. Go ahead and put each one on hold and then you can go back and cancel the higher quotes. This way the best rate will be locked in. Just make sure that you pick a hotel that is not too far away from the park. The savings in the end won’t be worth the cost it takes to get your family to the park.

A few other tips are to try to travel during off-peak seasons if your schedule will allow. Also, if this is a once in a lifetime trip for your family, make sure your children are old enough to enjoy the rides and remember the trip.

Happy planning!

How The Carolina Panthers Made History

November 15th, 2008 RickGrantham Posted in Sports | No Comments »

The Carolina Panthers is based in Charlotte, North Carolina and is a member of the National Football League (NFL), representing both North and South Carolina. They are one of the four teams playing in the South Division of the National Football Conference (NFC). The Panthers began playing as 1995 NFL expansion teams, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Panthers uniforms are colored black, blue and silver. They play at the Ericsson Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A lucky start

Merely two years since the team was instituted, they won in their division and qualified to compete at the playoffs in the 1996 season. Never had any other expansion NFL team were able to achieve success that early. The year before, they won seven games—the most number of wins by an expansion team. Panthers owner and founder Jerry Richardson was awarded a new NFL franchise in 1993, the first one after 1976 (when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks were given a franchise).

The worst season

The 2001 NFL season was a disaster for the Carolina Panthers. In fact, it was their worst year. They would go down in history for having the most consecutive losses in NFL record, losing 15 straight games and finishing with a 1-15 record. Two seasons later, under the wing of head coach John Fox, they were able to reverse their fortunes and finished the regular season with an 11-5 record. They continued on to the playoffs after winning the South Division Title of the National Football Conference and went on to compete at the Super Bowl XXXVIII against the New England Patriots. They could have won that season but four seconds on the clock, their chances of winning were undone by the Patriots’ Adam Vinatieri who kicked a 41-yard field goal leading to the Panthers’ defeat.

A close call

Dom Capers, former Pittsburgh Steelers Assistant coach, was the Panthers’ first head coach. In their first season in 1995, they lost their first five games but recovered pretty well during their last 11 games, winning seven games in all, thanks to Panthers receivers Willie Green and Mark Carrier. The Panthers defeated the San Francisco 49ers, which was the defending league champion during that time—again, the first ever instance in NFL history for an expansion team. In 1996, the Panthers proved its professional status yet again by winning 12 games in the NFL and getting the North Western Division Title in the NFC. At that time, the Panthers had put together an impenetrable team including running back Anthony Johnson and quarterback Kerry Collins; Pro Bowl linebackers Lamar Lathon, Kevin Greene, and Sam Mills, which made up the the second-best defense in the NFC; Placekicker John Kasay who converted 37 field goals on a league record; and league’s top kickoff returner Michale Bates who averaged 30.2 yards per return. Dom Capers was named coach of the year. After defeating the Dallas Cowboys during the playoffs, the Panthers lost to the Green Bay Packers who went on to become that season’s Super Bowl Champions.

The Five Greatest NFL Teams In The History Of Football

November 15th, 2008 RickGrantham Posted in Sports | No Comments »

While a lot of people may contest and debate the five greatest NFL teams in the history of football as listed here, everyone will agree that these were awesome teams that deserve the honor and accolade one way or another.

1985 Chicago Bears

The 1985 Chicago Bears was a phenomenal team composed of a mismatched group with raw and exciting energy and interesting personalities. They were great and they knew it, recording their championship video, “The Super Bowl Shuffle” even before playoffs started. Led by the Mohawk-wearing quarterback Jim “Punky QB” McMahon and an impenetrable running and defense line, chief of them William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Super Bowl MVP defensive end Richard Dent, and NFL Defensive Player of the Year Mike Singletary, the Bears finished the season with a 15-1 record and scored a total of 456 to 198 points. During the playoffs they won 21-0 against the giants and 24-0 against the rams for the NFC title. They won the Super Bowl, scoring 46-10 over the Patriots.

1972 Miami Dolphins

The 1972 Miami Dolphins is the only NFL team that ever had a “perfect season,” with a season record of 17-0. This is also the reason why they are considered as the greatest NFL team of all time, particularly by the documentary America’s Game: The Super Bowl Champions, produced by the NFL Network. Their undefeated team was led by coach Don Shula and football greats such as Earl Morrall, Bob Griese, and Larry Csonka. They won all three playoff games and finally won the Super Bowl VII against the Redskins. Some argue however that the ’72 Dolphins had the advantage of playing one of the easiest schedules in the history of modern NFL, and this when equally matched with the ’85 Bears, they were no contender.

1962 Green Bay Packers

A dream team consisting of a list of football hall of famers including Paul Hornung, Max McGee, Jim Taylor, Boyd Dowler, and Vince Lombardi, the 1962 Green Bay Packers set a 13-1 record earning them a first place at the Western Conference. In the NFL Championship Game, they won 16-7 against the New York Giants, marking the Packers’ 8th NFL Championship.

1991 Washington Redskins

The 1991 Washington Redskins topped the NFL in two important stats: the yards gained per pass and yards allowed per pass, with star player Mark Rypien averaging a whopping 8.5 yards per attempt, gaining a total of 1,340 yards on 70 receptions. The additional contributions of Redskins’ Ricky Ervins and Earnest Byner with a combined 1,708 yards make their stats legendary. Even with a tough schedule, they were able to outscore their opponents 485-224.

1999 St. Louis Rams

One of the most exciting personalities in the 1999 season was then barely-known night-shift grocery-clerk and St. Louis Rams’ star quarterback, Kurt Warner who led the Rams to a record of 13-3 in the regular-season. He was both NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP. The Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans in the Super Bowl XXXIV with a score of 23-16, and claimed their 1st NFL World Championship since 1951.
